REVEALED: Manchester United’s First January Transfer Target
The season is a mere two games strong, and the warning bells are already ringing for Manchester United.
Their underwhelming 2-1 start to life against Leicester City was thrown away when the side traveled to Brighton last week, a dismal 3-2 defeat being suffered.
Brighton revealed a whole list of problems in United’s style of play, from a dysfunctional defense to a conduit-less attack, and served to further Jose Mourinho’s frustration over the club’s transfer window.
While his displeasure stemmed from the board not sanctioning his desired talents, particularly in the defense, a revisit may be in place for January.

As per The Sun, Manchester United will pursue Roma’s Lorenzo Pellegrini once again in January after a long summer of linking. The 22-year-old Italian is believed to be the box-to-box midfielder that United desperately need, and the report adds that Mourinho is expected to get this request after the summer debacle.
However, the bigger question that looms is whether Pellegrini is the transfer that the Red Devils truly require, what with their lack of a leader in the heart of defense being painfully obvious in the past weeks.

This saga will be furthered by the fact that Mourinho’s own future at Old Trafford looks to be in some doubt if the board doesn’t bend to his will of purchasing in the winter.
A lot of bad blood seems to still exist over the club’s failure to acquire Tottenham’s Toby Alderweireld, despite reports claiming that the London side had lowered their asking price significantly in the latter stages of the window.
While Pellegrini is a proven talent, Roma may not be the most amiable of negotiators, and the short duration of the winter window does make one doubt whether this is a transfer battle that is worthwhile for the Mancunian giants to pursue.
