Man United Eye Talented Young Defender For The January Transfer Window
Manchester United endured a sorry transfer window as far as the hunt for defensive options are concerned. They were linked to several big names, but in the end, no world-class player arrived at Old Trafford.
It is widely believed that manager Jose Mourinho is keen on boosting his central defensive option in the upcoming January transfer window.
United have got off to a shaky start in the Premier League, that included two successive losses, besides shipping in 6 goals in two matches.
After 4 games, United sit in the 10th place with 6 points in the bag. A concerned Mourinho has now targeted Lucas Hernandez in the January transfer market, according to reports.

France Football suggest that the Mancunian club are interested in the Atletico Madrid defender, and could make a move for him in January. Hernandez has the ability to play both as a centre-back and a left-back, and that has got Mourinho interested in the Frenchman.

Hernandez is just 22 years of age, and recently signed a contract extension at Atletico.
His buy-out clause is priced at a whopping £72m, and United will have to shell out the money in order to land him. The World Cup winner has earned a lot of name, and is also chased by rivals Real Madrid.

United are already facing defensive issue with Marcos Rojo on the sidelines, and now, Phil Jones too, is out with a hamstring injury.
That leaves the club with three recognised centre-backs. With Eric Bailly out of form, the workload will be on Chris Smalling and Victor Lindelof to put in consistent shifts.
Should United land Hernandez, that could help Jose in terms of making a difference with the defence.
