Eight Players In Line For Contract Extensions At Old Trafford This Summer
David De Gea and Anthony Martial could be signing new Manchester United contracts in the coming weeks.
Eight players at the Mancunian outfit have entered the final year of their current deals, with De Gea and Martial being some of the top names who could begin talks with rival clubs in January over a possible free transfer at the end of this season.
But while the Reds have the option to extend their deals for another season, other players who could be without a contract at the end of this season are Valencia, Jones, Smalling, and Darmian as well as youth graduates Andreas Pereira and James Wilson.
United invoked the extension clause for six players last season. While Daley Blind and Sam Johnstone decided to leave due to lack of playing time, Shaw, Young, Mata, and Herrera will be free to talk with suitors once the January window reopens.

According to reports, the Red Devils have already begun talks with David De Gea and Anthony Martial. The Manchester United board members are keen to offer new contracts to the duo, and an announcement is very likely in the coming weeks.
Jose Mourinho was left frustrated after the summer window, as Ed Woodward failed to bring in a center-back. This could mean that Jones and Smalling could extend their stay for another season due to the lack of players in their position.

United are likely to let go of Matteo Darmian in January. The Italian defender has expressed his desire to leave Old Trafford this summer, but a late injury to Antonio Valencia forced him to stay at the club.
There is uncertainty around 22-year-old forward James Wilson as well, as the Englishman has failed to make a mark in the first team since graduating from the club academy.
Though United’s midfield is full, Andreas Pereira could get a contract extension after his impressive performances at the start of this season. Shaw has been the club’s best player so far this season, and is also set to be rewarded with a new contract in the coming weeks.
