Two Manchester United Players Named In Marca’s “The Worst” Awards

A host of superstars were seen grabbing the headlines on Monday night, as FIFA’s The Best Awards bestowed some top footballers with glorious accolades for their achievements on and off the pitch during the previous campaign.
But while the entire world celebrated these players’ respective achievements, Spanish news outlet Marca made sure to give even the worst of players a proper mention.
In reply to FIFA’s The Best, Marca launched their own version back in 2017 – The Worst.
The publication has once again picked eleven high-profile players that failed to do well during the 2017-18 season, whilst also naming the worst player in all the four parts of the pitch – attack, midfield, defence, and between the sticks.
The Worst Goalkeeper award was handed to Liverpool shot-stopper Loris Karius – a fairly obvious choice, considering his disastrous errors in the Champions League final against Real Madrid.

Manchester United centre-back Victor Lindelof was named The Worst Defender, as the error-prone ex-Benfica man failed to adapt to the fast-paced Premier League in his debut season in England.
Wesley Sneijder, who was once in contention for the Ballon d’Or award for helping Inter Milan win the UEFA Champions League, was named The Worst Midfielder by Marca, thanks to his poor showing with Nice throughout the previous term.

Lastly, The Worst Attacker award was granted to yet another Manchester United player – the Red Devils’ free winter signing, Alexis Sanchez.
Despite having arrived at the Theatre of Dreams with tremendous promise and being gifted the glorious number 7 shirt, the Chilean international has failed to dazzle in Manchester, and he continues to struggle this season as well.
