Manchester United Star To Snub Barcelona Move

Change is never an easy thing to handle, particularly so for football players.
While the modern version of the game promotes moving about the globe and shifting to those clubs where one has both a lucrative deal and a pleasing game-time, it’s not always an ideal choice.
As of such, it is common to see talents hop clubs and not remain invested even at powerhouses, often unwillingly.
In line with this trend, bringing players back to their home nations seems to be a popular notion, and one side’s hopes of doing so could come crashing down.

Barcelona were heavily linked with acquiring Ander Herrera from Manchester United. The 29-year-old is on the last leg of his Old Trafford contract, and would be free to negotiate with foreign clubs from January 1.
As of such, the La Liga giants were expected to renew their interest in the midfielder, and were perhaps even banking on the fact that Ernesto Valverde, who coached Herrera during their tenures at Athletic Bilbao, would power the move.

However, as per ESPN, United are keen on offering a new deal to Herrera, who is further reported to have a strong intent at staying on at Old Trafford.
While not exactly a magnet for starts and game-time under Jose Mourinho, the Spaniard is nevertheless a fan-favorite, and a tactical delight when required.

His wide array of skills and a staunch discipline makes him the ideal player to bring on in practically any major position, with roles both defensive and offensive being assigned to him during his tenure as a Red Devil.
By keeping him in the Premier League, United will deprive Barca of an easy chance at acquiring a midfielder – an area where the Catalan giants may be a tad bit undermanned after the summer that just passed.
