Juventus have traveled to England for a contest in the Champions League that promises to be emotional, feisty, massively competitive, and so much more.

Old Trafford is prepared to host this massive encounter, and along with that, welcome back one of their own. Cristiano Ronaldo will be stepping out on his former chomping grounds, but this time wearing Black & White, and playing against the Red Devils.

While the atmosphere at the Theatre of Dreams will be overwhelming and Ronaldo will be the centre of attention, there will be a player present who could have made the stadium his home turf in the summer.

Leonardo Bonucci has revealed that he was closing in on a move to Manchester United in the summer window, but he eventually made the decision to return to Juventus instead.

After a disappointing spell at AC Milan last season, the Italian centre-back was eager to leave San Siro, and he was not so far away from coming to Manchester.

While speaking to The Telegraph, Bonucci stated: ”Basically there have been some possibilities both with Manchester City and with Manchester United.”

While Jose Mourinho was on the hunt for a quality defender, the Italian was approached by the English giants. However, the move failed to materialise, as returning to his former club was Bonucci’s top priority.

“This year when I was told there was a possibility to go back home, to come back to Juventus I just stopped listening to any other offers and I decided to come back here. I stopped listening to any kind of suggestion and I just said ‘OK, let’s go home’,” the defender added.
