Manchester United Identify Paul Pogba’s On- And Off-Pitch Replacement

The working relationship between Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho and star midfielder Paul Pogba began worsening last season, and it has turned into a full-blown rift since the current campaign began.

Despite the issues between the two high-profile club servants, however, the higher-ups at Old Trafford have refused to part ways with either of the two, at least for the time being.

Inconsistent displays on the pitch and a poor string of results brought Jose Mourinho close to getting sacked, until some positive performances in recent games managed to prolong his stay at the helm.

But if Mourinho does end up staying put as manager for the long term, Pogba is likely to hand in a transfer request – a move that Manchester United officials view as simply disastrous.

The Mail indicates that the Red Devils aren’t prepared to let Pogba leave due to two major reasons, the first and obvious being the 2018 World Cup winner is a tremendous player, and finding a midfielder capable of replacing him would be an extremely difficult task.

The second reason happens to be the fact that Pogba is one of the most famous footballers on the planet, with his monumental commercial value being of utmost importance for the Mancunian giants from an economic perspective.

Manchester United have no intention of letting a player of Pogba’s talent and financial worth leave, but if the Frenchman forces a departure, the club seems to have identified a potential replacement, in the form of long-term target Gareth Bale.

The Welshman is just as well-renowned and marketable as Pogba, with both players also being individually sponsored by Adidas, who happen to be United’s kit sponsors as well.

Whether or not Real Madrid will approve of Bale’s transfer to Old Trafford is a different matter altogether, but the bottom line remains the fact that United have identified a player who could replace Paul Pogba, both on and off the pitch.
