Club Hierarchy To Interfere With Jose Mourinho’s Transfer Plans Yet Again In January

Manchester United chiefs are once again prepared to reject Jose Mourinho’s transfer targets in January, if need be.

The Red Devils’ manager endured a frustrating transfer window back in the summer, as the club failed to bring in several of his defensive targets due to a variety of different reasons.

Bayern Munich’s Jerome Boateng was rejected due to his poor injury record, whereas an agreement with Yerry Mina, who left Barcelona to join Everton, failed to materialise due to the high fees demanded by his representatives.

Leicester City star Harry Maguire was deemed too expensive, while a move for Spurs’ Toby Alderweireld was postponed due to the Belgian international being available for a discounted price at the end of the ongoing season.

Failure to sign these targets has evidently affected Manchester United‘s gameplay on the field since the new campaign began, with their defence leaking in goals and looking clueless on too many occasions.

While Jose Mourinho hopes to fix these issues by fully utilizing the upcoming January window, the higher-ups at the Mancunian club may once again intrude and keep crucial business from getting done.

According to ESPN, the Old Trafford hierarchy will only sign the targets identified by Mourinho if they fit the club’s long-term interests.

While this does sound a gloomy news, it might not necessarily affect Jose’s plans, however, as the players he seems to be targeting, viz. Milan Skriniar, Alessio Romagnoli, and Nikola Milenkovic, are all aged 23 or under, which effectively makes them good long-term investments.

Meanwhile, Manchester United continue to ponder over making structural changes at the club, with the appointment of a technical director being reported as a likely action in the near future.
