Manchester United Targeting A January Swoop For Juventus Star
It is well known that Manchester United are in the hunt for defensive recruits, and there could be a new arrival or two in the month of January.
Jose Mourinho is not happy with his defensive line, which has already shipped in 17 goals in just 11 Premier League matches so far this season.
The Reds sold Daley Blind in the summer, and the likes of Matteo Darmian and Marcos Rojo are expected to follow suit. What United need at the moment is a sturdy centre-half, and reports claim they have identified one target.
According to a report in Tuttosport, United are interested in signing Juventus defender Medhi Benatia. The player is keen to move away from Turin and seek new pastures, after not getting the game-time he is seeking at the Old Lady outfit.

The 31-year-old has the experience of playing at the highest level, and has done that with Roma and Bayern Munich. He moved to Juventus in 2016, but since then, has played just 59 matches for the reigning Serie A champions.
The senior defender told media outlet La Stampa: “I struggle to play with no consistency. I was doing well last season because I was playing on a regular basis. Now it’s not the same.”

The centre-back admitted that he is in a situation that he doesn’t like at the moment. And that given he is 31, he wants to play as much as he can, which in turn, suits Manchester United.
Jose Mourinho wants a player that can command his side’s back-line, and Benatia is precisely the player that can give the Portuguese tactician just that.
