Premier League giants Manchester United have gone on to add a new goalkeeper to their ranks.

The Old Trafford unit seems to have roped in Paul Woolston, as the former Newcastle United youngster was recently spotted in training ground photos.

The 20-year-old was on trial at Carrington after he was released by the Magpies. He was pictured training with a number of players who weren’t on international duty earlier this week.

Reports state that Woolston has signed a contract until the end of the season. He was wearing the number 32 training top, which was previously used by Sam Johnstone, who left the club in the summer of 2018.

Woolston has made just one competitive senior appearance in his career, which came in the 2-1 away win at Crewe Alexandra in the Checkatrade Trophy in August 2017.

He has mainly featured in the youth teams and was loaned away to non-league outfits. Now, the shot-stopper will fight it out at the U-23 side. Besides him, the club already has the likes of Alex Fojticek and Matej Kovar.

Meanwhile, in the senior team, United also boast of a talented custodian roster, as they possess David de Gea, Sergio Romero, and Lee Grant.

On the other hand, young up-and-coming talents like Joel Pereira, Dean Henderson, and Kieran O’Hara are all out on loan.
