Belgian midfielder Marouane Fellaini scored an injury-time winner to give Manchester United a dramatic victory over Young Boys and send his side into the last 16 of the Champions League.

With Juventus beating Valencia to remain top of Group H, United needed a win to secure progression, which came at the death to bring some respite to the fans.

Here are the player ratings from a nervy night at Old Trafford:

David de Gea: 7

The Spaniard was much a spectator in the first-half. Made a superb save to stop Kevin Mbabu’s shot.

Antonio Valencia: 5

Looked assured after making a return to the side post nearly two months. Should have added more cover for Lingard.

Chris Smalling: 7

Was on his best display, something that will please Jose.

Phil Jones: 7

Made some committed challenges despite coming back to the team after months.

Luke Shaw: 5

Shaw was energetic, but lacked the character to produce an all-round display going forward.

Nemanja Matic: 4

Another tame performance from the Serb. Was slow and lacklustre at times.

Marouane Fellaini: 6

Was clumsy and didn’t have a plan. Got caught offsides too many times, but made up for it with a goal.

Fred: 5

Started the game with intensity and had the control, but lose the same as the match progressed.

Jesse Lingard: 5

Not a productive night for Lingard. Didn’t do enough.

Anthony Martial: 2

Another dodgy performance from the Frenchman. Was tame and impotent going forward in the final third.

Marcus Rashford: 4

Despite having some sound movement, his decision making and shot choices hurt him.
