What Sir Alex Ferguson Said About Mauricio Pochettino In 2016

Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino is being speculated as the next permanent boss for Manchester United. He is one of the various names linked with the Old Trafford club.

United sacked Jose Mourinho on Tuesday and they are set to appoint a caretaker to the end of the season before picking their long-term choice in the summer.

Pochettino, who signed an £8.5million-a-year five-year contract in the summer, is reported as United’s major choice to take over the job on a permanent basis.

The Argentine has earned a lot of name after leading Tottenham to top-four finish consistently on a very tight budget. But reports state that no summer activity for Spurs and problems with the new stadium has created an uneasy feeling.

According to Evening Standard, Ferguson had said, “The most important thing for English football is how many English and young players are in his team. He understands the advantage of playing young people. They won’t let you down and they have been fantastic. [Dele] Alli, [Harry] Kane, [Ryan] Mason, [Danny] Rose, [Eric] Dier, all English players.”

Ferguson went on to shower more praise on Poch for his composure.

“They have a bad record of managers, there is no doubt about that. They have had so many over the years, but this lad has composure. You never see him ruffled and the way his team play is a testimony to the work he is doing.”
