REVEALED: When Will Solskjaer Give Mason Greenwood His Senior Man Utd Debut

Despite their recent resurgence, Manchester United continue to face issues in the striker position, with Romelu Lukaku unfit as well as misfiring at the moment.

Marcus Rashford did fill in the position successfully against Cardiff, but the absence of a proper number 9 on the bench did not skip anyone’s attention.

But now, it seems Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is on the verge of finding a temporary solution to the problem.

According to Mirror, the caretaker manager has asked Mason Greenwood, a wonderkid from the club’s youth academy, to be prepared for their upcoming FA Cup third round encounter against Reading on January 5.

The Norwegian tactician has reportedly told the 17-year-old forward: “Get ready for Reading.”

And the starlet seems more than ready, having bagged a hat-trick in Manchester United‘s 4-3 Youth Cup demolition of Chelsea last week, which handed the Blues their first defeat in the competition for five years.

Greenwood has also tallied up 22 goals in 19 starts across several age groups this year, and he would be raring to make his mark in the senior team – akin to his fellow senior graduate Marcus Rashford did back in 2016.

Solskjaer had recently hinted that he fully intends to follow the club’s philosophy by giving a fair amount of chances to the talented youngsters, and he may do just that while kick-starting the year 2019.
