What Solskjaer Said About Paul Pogba After Man United vs Huddersfield
Paul Pogba was the clear star during Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s first Old Trafford game in-charge of Manchester United.
The Frenchman scored twice in the second-half, adding to Nemanja Matic’s first-half strike to make the scoreline 3-1 to the home side against Huddersfield Town whose sole goal came too late.
Pogba was simply brilliant on the night, making some incredible passes and challenges and functioning as the side’s most effective conduit when it came to forward plays.
This Pogba was an entirely different player to the one that was benched repeatedly by Jose Mourinho until last week. Quite predictably, the Norwegian caretaker manager expects more from the former Juventus star.

Speaking after the game, Solskjaer let out an open challenge for Pogba: “Paul [Pogba] is happy now. He knows he can score more goals and create chances. He had a few assists last week.”
The former striker went on to add (MUTV): “Paul loves playing for this club, he’s a Man United boy through and through, he’s a kid that knows what it means to play for Man United.”

This will be an incredible development for the player, particularly given how his rapport problems with Mourinho had fed rumors of his exit from his boyhood club. In fact, much of December was filled with speculation that even went as far as to claim that Mourinho would loan out Pogba in January itself.
However, with the performances that he put in against Cardiff and Huddersfield, it is clear that a change in philosophy was what was badly lacking at Old Trafford.
With Pogba poised to continue such a role in the months to come, if and when Solskjaer rolls out his preferred 4-2-3-1, the no.10 role the Frenchman is apt to fulfill is another one to look forward to.
Will the Premier League see more goals from its prodigal son in the second half of the season?
