Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s reign at Manchester United has gotten off to a splendid start. 3 wins in 3 games, 12 goals scored, Paul Pogba with 4 goals to his name, and Old Trafford left celebrating in the joy of attacking football.

Their latest victory came through a 4-1 thumping of AFC Bournemouth. Even though Pogba’s brace and Marcus Rashford’s goal in the first-half put United confidently in the lead, the match wasn’t put to bed until the second half.

The winner was notched by substitute Romelu Lukaku, who hasn’t been enjoying good form for a while now.

In fact, Sunday’s showing was his first after a festive leave, and fans were keen on noticing one difference in the striker.

Many took to Twitter to comment on the physique of the Belgian. In particular, it appeared that Lukaku had slimmed down quite a bit, and seemed to be carrying around a leaner physique than the muscle-heavy man that was often slow in the past months.

This wasn’t an isolated observation, with many comparisons indicating quite strongly about the change in the striker’s body.

This was proven when taken in context to Lukaku’s own observation in the past about his muscle weight: “I just felt great and I think I played great over there. Then when I came back it is a different type of style. When you play in the Premier League, you cannot play with the same amount of muscle as international football.

“That was something that when I came back I knew straightaway ‘no, no, I cannot play in this style like this. I had to lose muscle basically. So you just stay out of the gym, drink a lot of water, and a lot of veg and fish and it helps.”

It’s promising to see him put in this effort, and perhaps he won’t be the problem figure in Solskjaer’s lineup after all.
