€120 MILLION: Manchester United To Go All In For Marquee Target
Manchester United are undeniably in a phase of change at the moment. After Jose Mourinho’s spell of defensive football, the fiery brand of attacking football that has become a regular sight in the three games under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been a welcome relief.
However, in each of these games, despite having scored 12 cumulative goals, United have still conceded a goal. This brings their season’s total to a worrying 32 goals conceded so far.
This is a long-term issue that they have been afflicted with, the lack of a leader in the heart of their defense believed to be the problem they will seek to solve in the transfer windows.
But the lengths they are believed to be eager to go to achieve that are incredible, to say the least.

As per Gazzetta dello Sport, United are willing to splash as much as €120 million for Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly by the time summer rolls about. The sheer enormity of this fee is due to the Serie A giants being unwilling to part ways with the Senegalese international.
United have been guilty of spending big to no avail under Mourinho and Louis van Gaal, and supporters have been immensely bothered by the side investing in aging talents. If purchased in the summer, the centre-back will be 28 years of age and largely unproven in the Premier League.

While his skill is clearly worth an effort, the world-record will certainly be a massive investment for the club to put in. The report is adamant that United will stick to the quoted sum and go to any lengths required to secure Koulibaly’s signature.
However, with expensive signings likes Alexis Sanchez and Romelu Lukaku struggling to put in the required goals and performances, Ed Woodward ought to think twice before going in for such a big deal.
