Ole Gunnar Solskjaer To Have A Say In The Nikola Milenkovic Signing?
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen to discuss the possibility of bringing in key signings with club chief Ed Woodward.
Ole replaced Jose Mourinho as the head coach of Manchester United last month. He has been given the task of staying at the helm up till the end of the 2018-19 season.
Since taking over, he has helped the Red Devils notch five wins out of five matches across all competitions. The latest victory came over Reading in the FA Cup on Saturday.
Apart from the games played on the field, however, according to the Sun, the caretaker boss is also interested in voicing his opinions on January transfer targets.
United have been linked with a move for a centre-back since quite some time. The club failed to sign a defender in the summer, but there have been talks that Woodward could get someone in this month.
Amongst a host of names targeted, the latest to join the list is Fiorentina centre-back Nikola Milenkovic, who could cost the Mancunians £45 million. The 21-year-old can be a suitable addition, with the cushion of providing solidity for the future.
The Serbian international has impressed in Italy in his two seasons since arriving from Partizan. He has, therefore, attracted interest from not just Manchester United, but also Juventus and Atletico Madrid, who continue to monitor his situation.
Milenkovic could be the first signing under Ole at the Theatre of Dreams, provided the Reds succeed in convincing Fiorentina to sell the player, and beat off competition in the process.
