Manchester United players want Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to become their permanent manager.

The Norwegian has impressed heavily since taking over the interim managerial role at Old Trafford, having won his first five games on the trot.

He has also boosted the team morale, with players evidently much happier under Ole than they were during Jose Mourinho’s final few months at the Mancunian outfit.

In fact, a majority of the squad already wants Solskjaer to prolong his stay at the helm and become the permanent first-team boss, reports Mirror.

The players are much happier with Solskjaer’s inclusive man-management approach, which has been received as a breath of fresh air after months of Mourinho’s divisive style.

Further, a source close to the squad has revealed that the forwards of the team are especially pleased with the freedom they have received to express themselves on the pitch without being burdened with defensive duties, like they were under Jose.

Executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward has also been left “extremely impressed’ with the dazzling start Solskjaer has made since taking over, and a win over Spurs this weekend will only improve things for the 45-year-old tactician.

Tottenham Hotspur gaffer Mauricio Pochettino remains the first priority for the job at the moment. But if Sir Alex Ferguson’s super-sub continues to exceed expectations the way he has so far, the players’ collective wishes regarding his future may just come true.
