Manchester United weren’t just defeated in their Champions League round of 16 tie against PSG, but also outclassed by what was clearly a superior French side.

Following the 2-0 result, it has been evident that the Red Devils need to improve their squad tremendously if they are to stand a genuine chance of going toe-to-toe with Europe’s elite clubs.

According to the Mirror, United chief Ed Woodward recognizes this fact, and is ready to invest into the current squad to up its overall quality.

At present, four areas seem to be of major concerns for the Mancunian giants – the centre-back, the two full-back positions, and the right attacking wing.

Napoli superstar Kalidou Koulibaly remains the primary central defensive target for Manchester United, who might just meet the Italian club’s £90 million evaluation for the Senegalese come summer.

Lucas Hernandez of Atletico Madrid is rumoured to be another target, with the Frenchman capable of playing at centre-back as well as left-back.

Further, the Reds are also said to be keeping an eye on Fiorentina defender Nikola Milenkovic – another versatile player, who can feature at the centre of defence as well as the right side.

Lastly, the fourth player linked with the 20-time English champions is Juventus forward Douglas Costa.

The Brazilian is expected to depart from Italy at the end of the season, and could very well end up at Old Trafford, effectively solving their long-term issues on the right wing.
