Solskjaer Provides Injury Updates On Lingard And Martial
Manchester United’s high from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s success has been wavering quite a bit after the mid-week loss to PSG in the UEFA Champions League.
Though only a 2-0 setback in a competition that they were objectively underprepared for, the hype that something could be salvaged against a largely injured PSG kept the fans going. However, by the time the half-time whistle was blown, United had injury concerns of their own.
After the break, both Jesse Lingard and Anthony Martial had to be subbed off, following which the home side’s attack completely lost the spark, and PSG took full advantage.
Now, an update has been issued regarding the full extent of their injuries, and it is not the kind of news that United fans will like.

Speaking in an official statement, Solskjaer confirmed the following: “I think they’ll be out for two to three weeks, looking at it now.”
While the nature of Lingard’s injury is a more worrisome hamstring issue, Martial is believed to be suffering from a groin pull.
This means that the duo will not be available for two crucial games that are coming up for the Mancunian giants, namely the FA Cup encounter against Chelsea and the Premier League match-up versus Liverpool.

This news will bring extra importance to how the side performs during those fixtures.
The FA Cup encounter is a crucial one, as it is the Norwegian’s most likely path to a piece of silverware this season, while dropping points against Liverpool would cut short their brief tryst amongst the top four.
At the same time, it were setbacks of a similar nature that characterized Sir Alex Ferguson’s marvelous tenure at Old Trafford. If Solskjaer truly wishes to emulate his boss and prove himself as a worthwhile appointment for the long-term, then such a challenge is precisely what he needs.
