Chelsea 0-2 Manchester United: Player Ratings
Manchester United responded brilliantly to their previous week’s defeat to PSG, as they secured a 2-0 win over Chelsea to proceed to the quarter-finals of the FA Cup.
Here’s how the Red Devils fared at Stamford Bridge:
SERGIO ROMERO: 8
Dependable deputy. Made good saves off David Luiz and Pedro to keep his clean sheet.
ASHLEY YOUNG: 6
Got better and more composed as the game progressed. Led the side well.
VICTOR LINDELOF: 7
Closed down his opponents well. Looked comfortable alongside Smalling.
CHRIS SMALLING: 8
A rock at the back. Used his physicality to his advantage, and kept Gonzalo Higuain quiet.
LUKE SHAW: 7
Defensively solid. Made a goal-saving tackle against Pedro. Could not attack as much as he would have liked.
NEMANJA MATIC: 6
Pressed his former team aggressively. Came very close to getting sent off, but maintained his discipline to stay on the pitch.
ANDER HERRERA: 8
Energetic. Tenacious. A powerhouse. A leader’s display by the Spaniard, with his opening headed goal being the cherry on top.
PAUL POGBA: 8
Continued his sensational form under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, as he bagged a goal and as assist to improve his stats for the season. Man of the match for his involvement in both the goals.
JUAN MATA: 6.5
Stayed close to Jorginho to keep the Italian from pulling the strings. Didn’t do enough to influence United’s attack. Subbed.
MARCUS RASHFORD: 7
Chased the ball like a hungry horse. His cross which assisted Pogba’s goal was fantastic; Beckham-esque.
ROMELU LUKAKU: 5.5
Helped his side defend set-pieces. His movement helped distract Chelsea players during both the goals, but made no valuable contribution otherwise. Subbed.
