Solskjaer Gives Huge Injury Update On Martial And Lingard Ahead Of Liverpool Clash
With their 2-0 victory over Chelsea in the FA Cup, Manchester United certainly did a terrific job at downplaying the disappointment that was the reversed scoreline against PSG.
The Red Devils that played at Stamford Bridge didn’t carry the weight of a side that had tasted defeat for the first time in a long time just days earlier at all.
However, what did accompany them in that game were the injuries that were picked up in the Champions League clash.
Both Jesse Lingard and Anthony Martial received knocks in the first half against PSG. As a result, the duo had to be subbed off, effectively derailing United’s attack for the rest of the game, and the damage was evident.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had initially quipped that they could be out for weeks on an end, with Martial having picked up a groin pull, while Lingard’s injury was a hamstring problem of sorts. However, there may be some hope now.
Speaking to MUTV ahead of their Premier League clash against Liverpool on Sunday, the Norwegian revealed: “I hope and think Anthony will be ready and I hope Jesse will be ready because it’s two different injuries.

“So maybe more hope than think, with Anthony as well, but he’s got a chance. Anyway we still hope Jesse could be ready. Let’s see. We’ve still got a couple of days’ training and they need to be part of it.”
Having those two front-men fit will be a massive boost for the team ahead of the crucial clash. The Norwegian is particularly fond of deploying Lingard in areas that will provide tactical superiority to the side.
A win against their bitter Merseyside rivals will secure United’s spot in the top-four for quite a bit of time. However, Liverpool aren’t Chelsea, and Klopp’s men will fight bitterly for the points given the state of affairs at the top of the table.
