The dynamics of the ongoing Premier League season have altered considerably over the last few weeks, with Liverpool not looking like assured winners anymore.

In fact, it perhaps wouldn’t be too far-fetched to predict a similar scenario that took place between Manchester United and Manchester City in 2012, wherein goal-difference had to determine the eventual champions.

The ongoing battles haven’t prevented the clubs from planning their futures, with expert players constantly being looked out for. As of recent, big-move trends have included out-of-favor talents being the ones most likely to switch clubs.

Now, both Liverpool and United are apparently embroiled in a battle for one such star.

According to Tuttosport, both English giants are eager to try and swoop in for Isco. The Spanish midfielder is reported to be extremely unhappy at the Bernabeu, being used sparingly under the new regime and not enjoying adequate game-time.

This displeasure is said to be big enough that the 26-year-old will seek an exit in the summer, and the Premier League giants are fancying their chances to land the maestro. However, Real Madrid do have him on contract until 2022, and that may complicate matters.

Presently, the condition of Isco may aptly summarize the bigger woes of the Spanish club. Barcelona have thoroughly outdone them domestically, and for once, they don’t seem to be in an apt position to win the Champions League either.

As of such, a player like Isco departing could have a large impact on the club’s season to come.

At the same time, swooping for the Spaniard may not sit into the larger plans of United, particularly if they retain Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for the long term, as the Norwegian has a penchant for utilizing youngsters and making the best out of an existing lot.

In contrast, Liverpool may be better suited to acquire him, as they could certainly do with a more creative punch in their attacking build-ups.
