Thomas Tuchel has praised Ole Gunnar Solskjaer ahead of Wednesday night’s encounter.

Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United are set to collide for the second leg of their Champions League Round of 16 clash, wherein the French giants will defend the 2-0 lead they bagged at Old Trafford.

While the Parisians remain in a strong position with two away goals and a home fixture, Tuchel has refused to take the tie for granted, as he remains vary of Solskjaer’s impressive team.

In fact, Tuchel heaped heavy praise on the Norwegian during his pre-match press conference, as he stated: “It’s better to always be aware of the qualities of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. He was one of the key players of the biggest era of this club.

“He was always ready to help, in 30 minutes, 20 mins, 10 or five. It’s the spirit that made him and this is the spirit of Manchester United, that they are ready for anything. They are a strong club with a strong history. It is totally normal that we respect his quality. It’s a big challenge for us.”

The German manager then shifted his focus onto the Red Devils’ probable tactics, as he continued: “Normally Manchester United play 4-4-2 with a diamond formation and two strikers who play wide. For this we need to find a solution.

“We clearly would like to control the pace of the game, control counter-attacks very early in the game. Both [Romelu] Lukaku and [Marcus] Rashford are quick and very strong players, so we need to be wary.”

“First goal is really important, for us to show qualities and play together as a team. My team has been showing a very good level recently,” Tuchel then said of his own side’s preparations.

“Tomorrow the key is to be confident but not too confident, not be scared, trust in our skills and qualities as a team. We need to be ready in case Manchester United score first.

“The game is going to be very tight, and we cannot waste our time thinking about every possible eventuality. We need to be ready to react to any type of scenario. The challenge is to play at our best.”
