Manchester United achieved the unthinkable against PSG in the Champions League.

Battered from an injury list that left them without nine senior player and missing out on Paul Pogba due to suspension, few individuals thought the Red Devils and their makeshift starting lineup would have it in them to even win in Paris, let alone overcome the deficit.

But they did precisely that, and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s perfect away record continued with supporters, journalists, and pundits alike, demanding for him to be awarded the full-time gig already.

Their absentee list, in particular, was quite daunting, as the likes of Ander Herrera and Paul Pogba sit at the very heart of United’s success under the Norwegian. However, the suspension didn’t stop the Frenchman from playing a role in the game.

Being the only one in the list of absentees to have missed out not due to an injury, Pogba was able to make the trip to Paris.

Solskjaer later revealed just how much of an impact the French midfielder had on the game: “Paul came, supported us, he followed us in training, he participated in the meetings. There is a great team spirit, we are United. That’s the Manchester spirit!”

Certainly the mark of a true United team, which goes on to prove just what the player is capable of doing even off the pitch.

Commenting on the midfield that lined up in the absence of Pogba, Matic, and Herrera, Solskjaer opined: “They (McTominay and Fred) did a fantastic job, screening in front of their high midfielders and putting pressure on Verratti and Marquinhos, excellent.

“That was probably Fred’s breakthrough for us. You can see why we signed him. He’s got the mentality of a Brazilian international, he is a Brazilian international, he gets on the ball, no fear, no doubt whatsoever. And we played a system today he used to play at Shakhtar and that’s why we signed him.”
