James Garner has signed a new deal with Manchester United.

The promising youngster has penned down a new long-term contract, committing his future to the Old Trafford outfit until 2022, with the option to extend for a further year.

The 18-year-old made his competitive debut for the Red Devils against Crystal Palace in the Premier League last month.

He was also a part of the Mancunians’ Champions League squad that bagged the historic win over Paris Saint-Germain in the round of 16 second leg clash.

Having joined Manchester United at the age of eight, Garner has steadily progressed through the youth ranks at the club’s famous academy, and he finally looks ready for some first-team opportunities.

The England youth international certainly possesses abundant talent – so much so, that interim boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has already likened him to club legend Michael Carrick.

Speaking about Garner last month, the Norwegian had stated: “He knows we believe in him. We’ve got great faith in him as the next Michael Carrick.

“I know he’s young and I know it’s not fair on kids to compare to great players like Michael was, but he’s the same mould, he plays simple passes, plays through the lines. I believe he’s got the chance to have a great future.”
