Manchester United have received a boost in their pursuit of Toni Kroos.

The Red Devils have been heavily interested in the German international since the summer of 2013, back when former boss David Moyes came extremely close to securing his services from Bayern Munich.

However, Real Madrid swooped in at the last moment to get this signing done, and the star midfielder moved to the Spanish capital in a £27m switch.

The player has since enjoyed a glittering spell with Los Blancos, having helped them win the Champions League on three occasions.

Kroos has struggled to hit top form this season, however, having bagged just three assists and no goals in 21 appearances so far.

While his current deal with Real Madrid lasts until 2022, the star midfielder is already eyeing an exit, as he is keen to reignite his career elsewhere, as per The Sun.

The English outlet adds that Manchester United, who remain interested in the 2014 World Cup winner, can acquire his signature come summer for a discounted fee of £50m.

However, the Mancunians might just get beaten by Paris Saint-Germain, who are said to be lining up a bid worth £68m. Further, the Ligue 1 giants would also be able to offer Kroos a 50 percent increase on his salary, provided he agrees to make the move.

Will the 20-time English champions go all in by breaking the bank for the German? Only time will tell.
