What De Gea Tweeted After Embarrassing Everton Defeat
Manchester United fell to yet another embarrassing defeat on the weekend, suffering a 4-0 humiliation against Everton at Goodison Park this time around.
The club’s fan-base collectively agreed that it was a disastrous performance all around from the Red Devils, with the entire unit attracting heavy criticism on social media.
David De Gea, the captain of the team that visited the Merseyside club on Sunday, shouldered the blame for the poor result, and even took to social media to express his thoughts after the game.
The Spanish international sent out a tweet wherein he vowed to improve, whilst also thanking the supporters for their unwavering support.

The shot-stopper’s tweet read: “Difficult to put what I am feeling today into words. As captain I want to say that the performance of the team today, on top of the result, was not up to the standard expected when you pull on this shirt…
“We know that we have to improve but words mean little: we have to give everything for this club. Thank you for your unconditional support.”
De Gea has been extremely poor in goal himself of late. Before conceding four against Everton, he also let in three goals against Barcelona at the Camp Nou – the second of which was a direct result of his own fault.
Now, the custodian as well as his teammates can only hope that they learn from their recent setbacks, and try to rise above it come Wednesday, when they take on against Manchester City in the Premier League.
