Manchester United are readying a ‘severance fund’ in order to offload their out-of-favour players.

The current Red Devils’ squad is riddled with deadwood that was once recruited as promising talent by the club’s former managers, and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is eager to get rid of those players once and for all come summer.

Two such players are South American duo Marcos Rojo and Alexis Sanchez who, despite their lucrative wage packets, have failed to perform on the pitch for the Mancunian giants.

But now, the club has undertaken a major step to part ways with the two on a permanent basis at the end of the season, according to The Sun.

The English outlet has claimed that Manchester United are gathering funds to pay the two players off, so as to force their departures from the club.

Alexis’ gigantic salary continues to repel potential suitors, whereas Rojo still has two years left on his current deal, and is supposedly demanding a £6 million severance fee to leave in the upcoming summer transfer window.

An Old Trafford source confirmed as much, as he was quoted as saying: “There’s a few players that want to go but they will need paying off to get them out. It won’t come cheap and it will affect certain things in the transfer market.

“There are plans already been put in place. The club are setting aside a contingency fund to get certain players moving out in the summer. Rojo only signed a new contract last summer after running down the previous one. He knows he is in a strong position.”

Will this duo continue to prove too costly for the Reds until the very end of their Manchester United spells?
