Chelsea, Liverpool And Man United To Fight For A Common Transfer Target

Manchester United certainly felt that they had solved their goal-scoring woes after signing Romelu Lukaku. However, the Belgian has had a problem with consistency, and despite exercising spells of absolute brilliance where goals were plenty, the former Everton striker descends into droughts.
This has been further highlighted after the arrival of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at the helm, as the Norwegian has dropped the Belgian from his pecking order, instead preferring Marcus Rashford in the role.
Earlier, Lukaku’s agent had revealed that the striker was open to considering his future in the summer, with a move to the Serie A potentially on the cards.
As of such, United have already begun making plans for life bereft of the Belgian, and have identified one player as a potential replacement.

As per the Daily Express, United will join Liverpool in the race to sign Nicolas Pepe from Lille. The 23-year-old Ivorian has made a great name for himself in Europe this season, having netted 20 goals in all competitions for the French side.
Claims also suggest that Chelsea are interested in acquiring his signature as a potential replacement for Eden Hazard, who seems all but Real Madrid-bound already.

Further, it is believed that the striker will cost any suitor upwards of £70 million. Considering the spending power of the three English giants in the fray, that amount could certainly rise higher by the time this saga unfolds.
Solskjaer seems certain to be on the receiving end of a bumper transfer budget. The club is set for an overhaul, and Lukaku is likely to be amongst five to six other players who may be shown the exit door as well.
It may be a much-needed clearing of deadwood for the club, who have spent enormously in the past four or five years, often to no avail.
