Rio Ferdinand’s Reaction To Messi’s Stunning Freekick Against Liverpool
Liverpool have a mountain to climb at Anfield following their 3-0 loss against Barcelona in the first leg of Champions League semi-finals.
Luis Suarez netted the opener in the first-half against his former club, while Lionel Messi struck twice in the second half.
The Argentine’s second goal was his 600th career goal, as he curled an inch-perfect 35-yard freekick into the top corner of Alisson’s net.
The freekick was so sensationl that it sent sent those inside Camp Nou crazy, including former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand.
The BT Sport pundit was with Gary Lineker, who played for Everton. The duo were clearly delighted to witness Messi’s masterclass, especially against Liverpool.

Rio Ferdinand also criticised Virgil van Dijk’s defending for Barcelona’s opener.
“Virgil van Dijk…he’s at fault,” he told BT Sport.
“He can see Suarez there, he’s pointing where he wants it. It’s not rocket science. He’s right in front of him – that’s your man – the no. 9 on the back of his shirt. Static. Virgil van Dijk there was static. It’s criminal.
“In that position he has to be Matip’s eyes and ears. He’ll be disappointed with that.”
