Manchester United are set to make an official bid for Sean Longstaff.

With Ole Gunnar Solskjaer eager to sign the best young British talents and effectively lower the age profile of his squad, the Mancunians have identified Sean Longstaff as one of their primary midfield targets.

United have parted ways with Marouane Fellaini and Ander Herrera since Solskjaer’s arrival, and the Newcastle United starlet, who can play as a box-to-box midfielder as well as in a holding role, is expected to be brought in to replenish the midfield department.

In fact, Ole himself expects the 21-year-old to develop into a top class all-round midfielder, and therefore, is adamant on sealing this deal.

Now, the Standard have revealed that Manchester United are all set to submit an offer worth £25 million for the Englishman, which should be enough to prize him away from the St James Park outfit.

This concrete interest from Old Trafford has come as a surprise for the Magpies, who were themselves hoping to begin talks to tie Longstaff down with a new long-term contract.

Meanwhile, the report adds that United are also considering moves for the likes of Bruno Fernandes, Idrissa Gueye, and Youri Tielemans, as the Norwegian gaffer hopes to find the right balance to his roster.

Further, along with Longstaff, the Red Devils are also prepared to make an offer for Crystal Palace’s Aaron Wan-Bissaka, whereas the deal for Swansea City’s Daniel James is almost done.
