Manchester United Ready To Pay €30m To Sign Spanish Sensation
The defensive woes at Manchester United have slowly infected more than just the centre-back position, plaguing their entire backline and establishing itself prominently at the goalkeeper’s spot as well.
As of such, the English side has been prominently leaking goals. It doesn’t take a sports pundit for one to realize that if United wish to taste success going forward, they must solve this problem and preferably by making strong signings this summer.
In regard to that, the Red Devils are already linked with a host of names but none so far seemed to show much progress. However, a recent claim may change that.
It appears that a few reports in Spain are suggesting that United are actively pursuing a young name. AS report that the Mancunian club are currently ‘dealing’ with Real Betis over the possible transfer of Junior Firpo.
The 22-year-old left back is set to represent Spain, despite having roots in the Dominican Republic and is one of the quieter success stories in the La Liga. However, his brilliance is plagued by injuries.
The report is said to have punch due to the fact that the reporter in question is claimed to be local to the region. The same also pens a €25-30 million transfer fee to be presently in the negotiation between the two clubs.
Further, the claim is strengthened by a mention in Diario de Sevilla, who also have a reporter who is familiar with the region, thus adding credibility to the report. This one put forth a smaller transfer fee, in the range of €20 million which may be an indication that Ed Woodward and company are trying to drive a bargain out of the deal.
Even though Luke Shaw has more or less cemented himself in the spot, the Englishman lacks any competition there, which can prove to be tricky in scenarios of injury or form slumps. As of such, the side’s interest in a left-back is apt.
