Manchester United are all set for a major squad overhaul this summer, as new manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will look to build his own roster for the season to come.

The Norwegian gaffer is expected to primarily address four key positions, and bring in a centre-back, a right-back, a central midfielder, and a right winger.

However, a few unexpected and unplanned departures could force the Red Devils to dip into the market for apt replacements.

Romelu Lukaku, in particular, could depart from Old Trafford in search of a guaranteed starting spot, with the Serie A his likely destination. The Belgian’s prospective switch to Italy has effectively led the Mancunians to look for yet another attacking reinforcement.

In their search for a striker, Manchester United have identified Lyon star Moussa Dembele as a transfer target, according to Goal.

In fact, this potential signing has been endorsed by a certified world-class ex-striker and one of the biggest legends in United’s glorious history: the iconic number 7, Eric Cantona.

Cantona’s indirect nudge at his former club towards signing the 22-year-old has led Solskjaer to submit a €40 million bid for Dembele, the source indicates.

The Frenchman has bagged 22 goals in all competitions since joining Lyon in the summer of 2018, and if he does make the switch to the Theatre of Dreams, he will provide immense competition to Marcus Rashford for the main striker’s spot up front.
