The hierarchy at Manchester United still isn’t clear. The side was expected to hire a Director of Football who would aid the recruitment process, giving it a more realistic outlook than what Ed Woodward is capable of.

However, that appointment is yet to be made and reports are claiming that the club has already commenced its hunts for the window.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is adamant to bring his specific ideology to Old Trafford, akin to how Sir Alex Ferguson used to run things. However, the United board may not necessarily see eye-to-eye on all matters with their Norwegian gaffer. A recent claim certainly indicates the same.

As per the Sun, Manchester United are poised to renew their interest in signing Toby Alderweireld from Tottenham Hotspur. The 30-year-old Belgian international allegedly has a two-week window in his contract during which he can undergo a transfer at a bargain rate of £25 million.

This rate would be an incredible one for the club to invest in given the sheer experience of the centre-back, who is all set to lead Tottenham into the Champions League final as well.

However, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer differs on the matter. The report claims that the gaffer has no interest in signing the player.

The source seems to indicate that the Norwegian has no intention of signing a defender at all this window and prefers to use those funds on other position in the squad

Further, it also appears that Solskjaer is keen on pairing Victor Lindelof alongside Eric Bailly or Chris Smalling next season as well.

This is worrisome for United fans as that same combination failed miserably in the past year’s campaign. However, the board at Old Trafford is allegedly set on pursuing this deal irrespective of what Solskjaer believes.

The report also adds that Alderweireld is content at White Hart Lane and may opt to stay for the remainder of his contract.
