REVEALED: The Premier League Player That Man Utd Wanted To Sign Before Daniel James

Manchester United recently announced that they had agreed a deal in principle with Swansea City over the transfer of Daniel James, who is all set to become Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s first signing at the club.

The Red Devils were locked in negotiations with the Welsh outfit for several weeks, and they had to increase their initial bid of £10m to around £22m including add-ons to finally seal this deal.

Now, the Evening Standard have revealed that the Mancunian giants went ahead and secured the signing of James after facing a huge blow in their pursuit of Bournemouth starlet Ryan Fraser.

The Cherries demanded a fee of £40m for their 25-year-old winger, which convinced United to pursue a younger and cheaper alternative in Daniel James.

The arrival of James marks a significant change in the Old Trafford outfit’s transfer policy, with Solskjaer now pursuing hungry and hard-working youngsters over established big-name superstars.

The report does add that Manchester United have been left frustrated with the inflated prices set on their chief targets, most of which are up and coming British talents.

The likes of Jadon Sancho, James Maddison, Declan Rice, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Harry Maguire, Sean Longstaff, and Nathan Collins are all said to be on the Reds’ radar.

And while the club seems to have accepted that the Borussia Dortmund star would be well out of their reach this summer, pursuits for other targets, despite their price tags, remain in the works.
