Ernesto Valverde Agrees To Sell Ivan Rakitic

Manchester United this transfer window seemed to have learned from the mistakes they made in the past. If not that, then the handicap of not having Champions League football may have forced them to alter their plans.
This is why the side is being linked heavily with young talents rather than expensive established players, with the latter probably uninterested in playing in the Europa League.
Despite that, a recent claim put up the name of Ivan Rakitic as a possible arrival at Old Trafford. Now there is an update to that particular saga.
As per the Sport, Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde is willing to sell Rakitic for the right price.

Quoting radio station Cadena Ser, the source adds that United will be able to attain the Croatian midfielder provided they offer Barca a transfer fee that will enable them to sign a replacement.
The 31-year-old was reported to have no intention of leaving the Catalan giants despite the fact that Barca are not willing to offer him a better deal.
While he will certainly add some much-needed experience and creativity to the midfield at United, it is unsure whether Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will seek to invest in a player of his age.

Earlier reports had suggested that even the 29-year-old Gareth Bale was deemed too old for United to purchase this window and as of such Rakitic may also be sidelined. This change of heart may stem from the club facing disappointment in acquiring Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal.
United are no strangers to giving talented veterans a run, as they have done so for the likes of Bastian Schweinsteiger, Victor Valdes and Zlatan Ibrahimovic in the recent past.
However, this window the focus seems to be on ensuring that the best young British talents are acquired and nurtured for the long term. Will Rakitic prove to be an exception?
