Man United Set To Make Opening Bid For Fernandes After Meeting His Agent
Manchester United are preparing an opening bid for Bruno Fernandes.
Having lost Marouane Fellaini and Ander Herrera since his arrival, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is now on the lookout for new reinforcements in the middle of the park.
The Norwegian has identified Fernandes, who scored 31 goals in 50 appearances for Sporting last term, as one of his primary midfield targets.
Now, according to A Bola, the Red Devils are all set to submit an opening bid for the 24-year-old, after having met with his agent, Miguel Pinho, earlier this week.
Manchester United‘s opening bid is expected to be around €55m (£49m), which is still a long way away from Sporting’s £70m evaluation of their playmaker.
However, Fernandes has also attracted heavy interest from Tottenham Hotspur, and the Portuguese club hopes that a bidding war between the two English giants will drive their player’s price up.

The report does state that Spurs’ pursuit of Fernandes will depend on the future of Christian Eriksen who, as of now, looks likely to extend his stay at the North London club.
If Tottenham back out of this race, the Mancunians could very well end up making the Portuguese international their third signing of the summer, as Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s arrival at Old Trafford appears imminent.
