Manchester United Confident David De Gea Will Sign A New Five-Year Deal

David De Gea’s future was expected to be the big name issue that Manchester United would solve this summer. However, the transfer window began to pose other issues like failed pursuits and first-team players wanting out.
As of such, the goalkeeper’s demands seemed to have fallen on the back-bench, even though the club was linked with a couple of shotstoppers as potential replacements for the Spaniard.
However, now there is a turn in that saga.
According to the Sun, United have returned to the negotiation table with De Gea and have offered him a better deal.

This is a massive development as the Red Devils had allegedly last left his negotiation with a ‘take it or leave’ contract worth £300,000-a-week. Now, it is believed that they have returned with a contract worth £350,000-a-week.
Further, this extension is believed to be a four-year-long one with the option to add another year.
It is interesting to note that this fresh deal still doesn’t comply with De Gea’s alleged demands of seeking parity with Alexis Sanchez’s weekly wages which is upwards of £500,000.

As of such, the Spaniard is expected to let this offer remain on the table till after the transfer window during which he is expected to factor in the signings the club makes during the summer and their intent on winning before deciding to extend his stay.
The report adds that an exit may not be a likely event for De Gea this summer as both Real Madrid and PSG were discouraged by the Spaniard’s drop in form last season. Further, any other pursuer will have to comply with United’s staggering pricetag of £75 million.
As of now, it appears that De Gea will remain United’s goalkeeper and the club will have to wait and see if the Spaniard signs their new deal or chooses to depart for free next summer.
