Manchester United have resumed their pursuit of Ivan Rakitic.

The Croatia international was linked with a summer switch to the Old Trafford club until a few weeks ago, but the reports eventually fizzled out.

But now, brand new updates emerging from Spain have indicated that the Red Devils have reignited their interest in the Barcelona superstar, after having sealed the transfer of Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

According to Sport, the Mancunian giants have made a ‘really serious approach’ to secure the 31-year-old’s services in the past few hours.

The source has claimed that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has re-launched the ‘Rakitic operation’, and his club is currently the ‘main candidate’ to win this transfer race.

The Premier League giants had previously tabled an offer in the region of €35m, but it was turned down by Barcelona, who value their player around €50m.

However, this time around, Manchester United have communicated their ‘firm determination’ to reach an agreement with Rakitic as well as Barca, and their serious efforts could sprout a more favourable outcome.

The Croatian himself has expressed his desire to stay put at the Catalan outfit, but a lucrative offer could tempt him into making the switch to the Theatre of Dreams.
