Man Utd Preparing Bid For Sean Longstaff – Newcastle Want More Than £50m
Manchester United are about to venture into their pre-season tour which will take them to Australia and Asia.
The period before August 8 will be crucial to the Red Devils to recuperate from last season’s downsides and form a roster that is able to challenge big in the upcoming season.
Transfers make a crucial part of the dynamic. With Daniel James and Aaron Wan-Bissaka already in the bag, it was believed that one more signing would be made prior to the squad’s departure on Sunday.
It was Sean Longstaff that was most touted to be this arrival but now a slightly different picture looms large.

As per Sky Sports, Newcastle United maintain that Longstaff isn’t for sale and are pricing him upwards of £50 million. Despite that, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and company are believed to preparing a bid for the 21-year-old.
It will be interesting to see how this pricetag is met, if at all. The amount certainly surpasses the one paid for Aaron Wan-Bissaka and eyebrows were raised even for the enormity of that transfer, despite the right-back’s potential and the fact that he topped all Premier League charts last season, defensively.

It will be much harder for the Red Devils to justify that pricetag for Longstaff. However, the English midfielder had been impressive last season, prior to injury and certainly fits the ‘upcoming homegrown talent’ profile that Solskjaer seems to be after.
What puts Newcastle in such a strong bargaining position is that the midfielder had signed a fresh contract in December, keeping him at the outfit until 2022.
Most fans would have been hoping for a transfer fee similar to Daniel James. However, from the looks of it, this deal is still in the beginning stage and it will be interesting to see how it progresses in the days to come.
