United Could Sign French Centre-Back If They Fail To Sign Maguire
Manchester United have identified a cut-price alternative to Harry Maguire.
The Leicester City star has been on top of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s summer wishlist, as the Norwegian hopes to strengthen his team’s defence this summer.
United had previously submitted an offer worth £70m for the England international, but it was rejected by the Foxes, who are holding out for a fee closer to £85m.
However, the Mancunians do not believe Maguire is worth more than the record-breaking £75m fee that was cashed out by Liverpool for the services of Virgil van Dijk.

Further, Manchester United are said to be “tired” of negotiating with Leicester City, which is why they have turned their attention towards recruiting other defensive options.
Now, French publication L’Equipe (via Mirror) has claimed that the Red Devils have successfully identified a new defensive target, in the form of AS Monaco centre-back Benoit Badiashile.

The 18-year-old has been strongly linked with Wolves of late, but the Old Trafford club has also been keeping tabs on the player for the past few seasons.
The Ligue 1 outfit values Badiashile at £30m, which is considerably less than the mind-boggling sum Leicester City have been demanding for Maguire.
Moreover, whilst not homegrown, the France Under-19s starlet perfectly fits Solskjaer’s new transfer approach to sign budding young players over established stars.
