Man Utd Looking To Sign Juventus Defender Following De Ligt’s Arrival
Manchester United have enquired about the possibility of signing Merih Demiral.
Juventus officially completed the signing of Demiral from Sassuolo in an €18 million transfer earlier this month, signing the centre-back on a 5-year deal.
However, they followed this recruitment up with the sensational signing of Matthijs De Ligt from Ajax for a reported fee of €85.5 million.
The Dutchman’s arrival, coupled with the already existent defensive options at Juve, have immediately raised huge question marks over the Turkish defender’s future at the Old Lady.

Amidst the concerns regarding the amount of game-time he will receive in Turin, the 21-year-old has attracted interest from the likes of Atletico Madrid and Manchester United.
Turkish Football suggests that both clubs have enquired about the possibility of signing Demiral this summer, thereby offering Juventus a chance to sell the player, and effectively make a profit within the same transfer window.
The Turk would undoubtedly strengthen the Red Devils’ defence, and would also be available for a much cheaper price as compared to United’s other centre-back targets.

Further, Demiral is admittedly a huge fan of Manchester United legend Nemanja Vidic, which boosts the Mancunians’ chances of pulling this deal off.
“When I was young I always followed Nemanja Vidic at Manchester United,” Demiral recently told the Tam Saha magazine.
“I used to watch clips of him on the internet. He’s still my idol even if he has retired. He was brave, a warrior, never gave up and was a true leader.”
