According to the Sun, Sir Alex Ferguson wants Manchester United to sign Aston Villa midfielder John McGinn. The 24-year-old Scottish talent is a ‘fierce’ presence in the middle and was a crucial aspect of Villa’s return to Premier League football.

The report states that Ferguson is good friends with McGinn’s grandfather and is lobbying to get United to sign the starlet. However, Aston Villa are reportedly holding out on a £50 million transfer fee for him.

This is interesting as United are desperately in the market for a creative midfield talent and the sagas of Sean Longstaff and Bruno Fernandes are yet to be completed.
