Manchester United Sign Harry Maguire In A World Record Deal

Manchester United may have the signing of Harry Maguire from Leicester City wrapped up, at last. The Telegraph reports that both clubs have agreed to an £85 million ‘basic’ deal for the sale of the English defender.
Reliable Craig Norwood also tweeted the following: “Manchester United have finally agreed on a fee with Leicester City for the transfer of defender Harry Maguire. Player now free to undergo medical & agree personal terms.”
Even as United’s transfer dealings appear destined to stretch out until deadline day, this a deal that Ole Gunnar Solskajer will be ecstatic at having completed.
It was, after all, the biggest problem plaguing the club. The club has faced numerous roadblocks in their approaches all summer but in cases like this, it worked to their favor that they didn’t give up.

Earlier, according to Kaveh Solhekol of Sky Sports, Harry Maguire had made it absolutely clear that he wants to join Manchester United this summer.
This has been evident for quite some while now, with past reports even referring to a ‘gentleman’s agreement’ between the club and the player that would permit him to leave this window.
However, Leicester were stubborn negotiators who kept fluctuating on their asking price. Despite multiple reports doing the rounds about their intentions, Solhekol adds that the Foxes never made their intended valuation public which initially made matters hard for United.

With this deal, Maguire will become the most expensive defender in world-football, surpassing the £75 million Liverpool paid for Virgil Van Dijk in 2018. Fans will be hoping that the Englishman will have a similar impact at Old Trafford as Van Dijk had at Anfield,
The report adds that while Maguire behaved quite professionally about the whole fiasco, he was very frustrated at the manner in which this affair was dragged out by the Foxes.
