Manchester United started off their Premier League campaign in bright fashion as they scored four goals to embarrass Chelsea, securing their biggest win over the London Blues since 1965.

Goals from Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial, and Daniel James were the highlight of the day, but fans also celebrated the new additions to the squad.

The debut performances of Daniel James, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, and Harry Maguire left supporters of the Red Devils in high hopes.

The trio was impeccable in their showing with the defensive players in particular scripting the cleansheet from the get-go. James’ goal was truly a magical moment and the entirety of Old Trafford seemed to share in the bittersweet joy of the youngster.

In fact, such was the brilliance of the trio, that Sky Sports pundit and former gaffer Jose Mourinho had choice words for their display.

Mourinho had this to say about United’s fresh signings: “For the three boys was fantastic. Maguire man of the match, Bissaka, very solid, this kid (James) comes in, scores a goal, for these three boys, couldn’t be better.”

The Portuguese tactician did reserve the bulk of his praise for Maguire, in particular, stating: “He was solid like a rock. It’s very important for a team to have that personality, that sense of reading the game, being alert, confidence to play. He was fantastic.”

Mourinho seemed to receive some sort of a cult presence at Old Trafford as a pundit with fans chanting his name and heralding his box during the fixture.

Most supporters of the Red Devils also see a similar glimmer of hope in this fresh Manchester United. Now it is crucial for them to act pragmatically and take this victory in a positive stride and work towards delivering similar electric performances on a more regular and consistent basis.
