How Solskjaer Reacted To Rashford’s Penalty Miss vs Crystal Palace

Manchester United are back on the path of woe as they lost to Crystal Palace on Saturday in a sordid 2-1 encounter at Old Trafford.
Jordan Ayew netted the opener for the Eagles, despite a period of good play by United. Following that, Palace were able to absorb United’s forward runs quite effectively.
Even though Daniel James netted a spectacular equalizer in the 89th minute, the home side got complacent thereon and a bad Paul Pogba pass resulted in a late Palace attack and a goal from Patrick Van Aanholt that David De Gea ought to have easily saved.

To add insult to injury, the entire dynamic of the game could have changed had Marcus Rashford successfully scored from a penalty that Scott McTominay won in the second-half.
Last week’s failure from Paul Pogba meant that he wasn’t the one to take up the spot-kick this time around. However, Rashford, who had succeeded at burying the penalty against Chelsea on opening day, hit the woodwork this time around and wasted the side’s chance at redemption.

Speaking after the game, Solskjaer stated the following about the miss from the young Englishman: “Two games, two missed penalties. It’s part and parcel of it. Sometimes it happens. I have missed a few myself. If we score them it’s a different story.
“If we keep putting ourselves in those positions we will get more penalties and we will score. It is just one of those things. We trust them to score again.”
About the entire ordeal, Solskjaer had this to say: “We just were not clinical enough in front of goal and they scored two very easy goals. I thought we got our act together second-half, we just couldn’t hit the target. We have dominated the game but we have not controlled it.”
