Eric Cantona Stuns Everyone With His Bizarre Speech At UEFA Awards Night
Eric Cantona’s acceptance speech at the UEFA Champions League draw has left the footballing world baffled.
On Thursday night, the Manchester United legend was handed the UEFA President’s Award during a ceremony that was attended by the biggest figures of European football.
UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin himself paid tribute to the Frenchman before honouring him, as he stated: “This award not only recognises his career as a player of the highest calibre, but also honours him for the person he is.
“[He is] a man who refuses compromise, who stands up for his values, who speaks his mind and, in particular, puts his heart and his soul into supporting the causes he believes in.”
While everyone expected Cantona to come up with his typical out-of-the-world acceptance speech, the 53-year-old managed to shock one and all nonetheless, by going on a truly perplexing tangent.
Much to the audience’s disbelief, the man went on to talk about science, death, and wars, before concluding the speech by admitting his love for the game.

“Soon the science will not only be able to slow down the aging of the cells, soon the science will fix the cells to the state,” said Cantona in his thank-you speech. “And so we become eternal.
“Only accidents, crimes and wars will still kill us. But unfortunately crimes and wars will multiply. I love football. Thank you.”
