What Man United Fans Are Saying About Lindelof After Southampton Draw
Manchester United were unable to notch a victory against Southampton, continuing the poor form they amassed against Crystal Palace and Wovlerhampton Wanderers.
The Red Devils did look like they were going to cruise to an easy victory after Daniel James opened the scoring and their entire offensive ethos seemed likely to net another goal or three.
However, in the second-half, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men completely switched off and were given a rude wake-up call when Vestergaard’s overpowered Victor Lindelof and netted a goal past David De Gea, equalizing the game.

Thereon, despite the sending off of Kevin Danso, the Saints held their cool quite well and absorbed the brunt of the United attack, not too different from what Wolves did last week.
Lindelof, in particular, appeared to be facing the brunt of the criticism. The Swedish defender wasn’t too confident from the start of the fateful corner itself.
Twice in two games that Lindelof has lost a challenge in the air and it has cost us.

Something fundamentally wrong with Lindelof, who's waited to head the ball two games running now, lost both and both have led to goals. #mufc

Furthermore, throughout the game, Harry Maguire kept forcing the backline’s shape to adjust, which often left Lindelof as the last man standing. Against a more experienced frontline, this flaw would have been severely punished.
When Maguire was acquired, many felt that United’s defensive woes were solved, banking on Lindelof’s redemption arc to continue.
However, such a display does spell woe to United’s hopes.
Will Solskjaer and company bounce back after the international break or have these games left a worrying precedent?
