Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has praised Scott McTominay for his performance in Manchester United’s 1-0 win over Leicester City.

After the international break, the Red Devils resumed their Premier League campaign with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Leicester City, with a Marcus Rashford penalty giving the home side all three points.

One of the standout performers from the game at Old Trafford was midfielder Scott McTominay, whose display against the Foxes also earned him the man of the match award.

During his post-match interview, Solskjaer also heaped praise on the 22-year-old, highlight the leadership qualities displayed by the youngster against a strong Leicester side.

“He’s improving isn’t he?” said Ole. “Today, I thought he was excellent. He lost the ball a couple of times, which you expect because he’s learning his new role as a sitting midfielder.

“But he goes into the tackles, challenges, fights, if the other sides are trying to intimidate us he’s there, he’s the first one. He’s a leader, and I wouldn’t want to go into a 50-50 with him.

“I thought he did excellently all day, there was once or twice first-half he got caught once or twice and there was almost one straight after, but he’s confident enough to carry on and very pleased for him.”

The Scottish international has established himself as a starter under Solskjaer, being named in the starting lineup in all 5 of the Premier League matches played so far this season.
